Excessive heat warnings remain in effect for the area until Saturday night, with the heat index estimated as high as 110. That has some area first responders concerned not only for the public, but for themselves as well. Osage Beach Fire Chief Jeff Dorhauer says people need to be aware of the risks of heat stroke and heat exhaustion. As for his crews, the weather makes a dangerous job even more perilous.
Dorhauer says if they do get a fire call, they’ll be taking extra precautions to keep their men safe.
Our Weather-Eye meteorologists say the heat warnings are expected to last until around 8pm Saturday.
