A boy from Camdenton has the family dog to thank for saving him from a Copperhead bite. While playing in the yard, 6-year-old Gabe Nugent was with his dog Dozer…and un-be-knownst to them…a copperhead snake. While the snake was coiled and ready to strike, one-year-old Dozer, by breed, a cattle herding dog, jumped in and took the bite that was meant for the child. While Gabe was un-hurt, the dog was scooped-up by Gabe’s grandfather and immediately taken to the vet. After steroids and benedryl, the dog will be fine. The hero dog and his playmate should be back to normal soon.
