Ameren Missouri is warning of dangerous chemical levels near the Callaway Nuclear plant. According to a release, an organization known as the Missouri Coalition for the Environment published the information following Ameren’s annual testing of the facility. Ameren has contacted the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to inform them of the water showing signs of higher levels of radio active Tritium and Cobalt-60, already above what drinking water would be. Ameren also informed the NRC that is has stopped the discharge of the treated water from the plant into the affected area after the testing results on July 25th.
