Slow down, don’t tailgate, pay attention and expect delays, especially in Highway-54 work zones throughout the Lake Area. Those are some words of caution from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Department of Transportation. Resurfacing work is ongoing during the overnight hours for another couple weeks in parts of Camden County, with milling and re-surfacing work ongoing in both Camden and Miller counties from 6a-9p on weekdays. That work should be completed by around the end of September. The work zone in Miller County, near Lakeland Road, was also where a two-vehicle wreck was reported on Thursday afternoon when a man from Eldridge, Iowa, was following another vehicle too close striking it and injuring the other driver who had come to a stop in the heavy traffic.. Officials from MoDOT also say it’s a good idea to check ahead for highway work zones when planning a trip. You can do that on the traveler information section of MoDOT’s website.
