The highway patrol in the Lake Area reporting two traffic accidents over the weekend. The first was reported late Saturday afternoon on Hwy-135 in Morgan County when a vehicle traveled off the roadway striking a sign post and a tree. The driver suffered moderate while a one-year-old in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. The second accident happened late Saturday night when a four-wheeler operated by 19-year-old Brandon Schwermer, of Independence, ran off the road and struck a culvert. Schwermer was seriously hurt and flown to University Hospital. He also faces charges of DWI and failure to stay on the right side of the roadway in connection to the accident.
Four people were arrested by the highway patrol over the weekend in the Lake Area. 44-year-old Shawn Huff, of Linn Creek, was arrested on misdemeanor warrants out of Camden, Miller and Macon counties…36-year-old Chasity Wyatt, of New Bloomfield, was taken into custody and put on a 24-hour hold in Miller County on a felony charge of possessing methamphetamine and a misdemeanor paraphernalia charge…48-year-old Freddy Furlong, of Sturgeon, was picked up for boating while intoxicated and failure to display navigation lights…and 19-year-old Brandon Schwermer, of Independence, arrested on DWI and failure to stay on the right half of the road.
