The Missouri Highway Patrol is getting a big “thumbs up” from the public. According to a recent public opinion poll, 91% of those responding give the patrol a “good” or “excellent” overall rating. The poll was conducted online and received more than 1800 responses. Some of the criteria the respondents were asked to comment on included appearance, attitude, and demeanor of the troopers; the most important duties of the patrol; and the patrol’s effectiveness at deterring the flow of drugs. The lowest ranking in the survey was in the field of “deterring alcohol-related boating crashes.” 73% of respondents felt the patrol was doing an “effective” or “very effective” job in that category.
