The Highway Patrol has released their final statistics from the Memorial Day holiday weekend, and many of them dropped from last year. One number that did not go down, however, was the amount of fatalities reported statewide. There were nine people killed over the period that began at 6pm Friday and ended just before midnight Monday night. That’s the same as the number killed during the 2017 Memorial Day holiday. The patrol reported declines in the number of accidents investigated (294) injuries (124) and drug arrests (102.) They arrested 121 people for DWI – up from 107 in 2017. On the water there were no boating deaths or drowning, 16 people were arrested for BWI. 12 accidents were reported with 10 injuries.
