As you’d expect, the state highway patrol says they’ll be out in full force over the Labor Day holiday weekend, both on the highways as well as the waterways. The “Operation CARE” (combined accident reduction effort) will see every available officer on the roadways from 6pm Friday until just before midnight on Monday. The patrol says they’ll also be conducting special enforcement operations during peak travel times Friday and Monday along 20-mile sections of Highway 54 and I-70, along with extra enforcement on secondary roads. Specifically, they’ll be targeting all traffic violations with special attention paid to speed, careless driving, and aggressive driving. On the water, Labor Day is the unofficial end of the boating season….the patrol says they’ll also have an increased presence on the lakes to target all boating violations.
