A State Highway Patrol Trooper will serve ten days in jail for his role in the death of an Iowa man at Lake of the Ozarks. Anthony Piercy was also sentenced to 180 days suspended execution of sentence and two years of supervised release in connection to the 2014 drowning of 20-year old Brandon Ellingson. He was originally charged with involuntary manslaughter, but pled guilty to a reduced charge of negligent boating. Ellingson was allegedy boating while intoxicated. After being placed into custody, he went overboard with an unsecured life vest and drowned. He was handcuffed at the time. Following the sentencing, Ellingson’s father, Craig, expressed his disappointment.
