A woman who claimed she was the target of an attempted abduction during the 2011 Laurie Hillbilly Fair has been arrested for making a false police report. Laurie Police Chief Shane Edwards says 30-year-old Leona A. Martin of Camden County claimed a vendor tried to abduct her at the fairgrounds the weekend of September 16th, but she managed to pull away, and then called police. Edwards says an investigation determined Martin had led about the incident, and when contacted by officers, she avoided them and declined to participate in for follow-up interviews. The Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney issued for Martin’s arrest, charging her with making a false report . She was taken into custody and is being held in the Morgan County Jail with a $5,000 cash only bond.
