Home care workers might be getting an early Christmas present from state officials who plan to issue an administrative rule to support a pay increase for them. Home care workers also sang Christmas carols outside the governor’s mansion yesterday (Thursday) to request his help as they fear some contractors might not pay the higher wages without pressure from the governor. Workers are currently paid a minimum of $7.50 an hour but an agreement recently ratified guarantees them between $8.50 and $10.15 an hour. However some close to the issue say it may take time to implement the changes and could be blocked by lawmakers.
