A substitute to House Bill 608 has been passed. What was originally a 3 page bill has now grown to 12. Lake Area Realtor Stacy Shore says there are too many loopholes within the bill that could destroy the Lake’s economy.
The substitute bill expands the definition of a political subdivision to a point that would include such things as water, sewer, and fire districts. Then, it states that those subdivisions would be able to enforce ANY ordinance or law related to nightly rentals, as long as it’s enacted by April of 2018. Shore says that the LOZ Vacation Home Rental Alliance is hosting an open meeting at the Camdenton Library this Saturday at 10 a.m. to discuss their next step to try stopping the bill.
