What seems to be a big concern for the general public is how prepared local hospitals are to handle a potential influx of patients suffering from the COVID-19 virus. Across the State of Missouri, according to the Missouri Hospital Association, there are about 150 facilities with an estimated 24-thousand beds available. Here in the lake area, Lake Regional Hospital has 35 beds available in the E-R with 18 more in the ICU to go along with another 138 beds in patient rooms and the progressive care unit.
