With fatal accidents reported in Cole County and Greene County, that brings the statewide numbers up to, at least, 864 people who have died in traffic crashes this year. That represents a decrease of about five-percent with, still, tonight’s New Year’s Eve holiday to be counted into the final numbers for the year. In 2018, 914 people lost their lives in traffic crashes, statewide, in Missouri. If the numbers for this year hold up, it will mark the first time for the total fatality count to be under 900 in, at least, the past four year. Unfortunately, boating fatalities and drowning incidents will finish this year above figures provided by the highway patrol for, at least, the past four years.
