Not guilty. That is the plea entered on Wednesday by an Iberia man accused of stabbing to death his step niece this past summer. 30-year old Steven Henderson was arraigned in Miller County court. He is charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 13-year old Macala Shelton. She was reported missing on June 22nd before her body was found the next day on an unoccupied farm near Iberia. During an interview, Henderson admitted to stabbing Shelton with a large survival knife that was later found at the home where they both lived. No trial date has been set at this time for Henderson. He remains in custody at the Miller County Jail on a bond of 500 thousand dollars.
