The highway patrol has been called in to investigate the death of an inmate at the Camden County Jail. Sheriff Tony Helms says that the unidentified inmate, a 54-year-old from Linn Creek, was found unresponsive in his cell around 6:30 Saturday morning after being brought earlier in the morning after being arrested by another jurisdiction. The name of the inmate is being withheld at this time despite family notification. At the current time, according to the sheriff, there are no signs of foul play.

Had the guards not been lolly-gaggin around, dancing and listening to loud music in their control room, and paid better attention to the video surveillance in the cells, they might had identified the man’s condition in sufficient time to save his life. Particularly when an officer was summoned to the window of the cell, and looked in, at 0330. It’s sad that a man’s life can be so meaningless to officers. Additionally, had the collected sufficient data about the inmate, they would not have had to call the arresting agency at approximately 0845 for additional information. God rest this man’s soul, and bless his family and friends with peace.
