Spectrum says it’s doubled the speed of internet service in Central Missouri from a download speed of 100 to 200 mega bits per second.
The company also says you can get speeds of up to 400 mega bits per second.
The new speeds come automatically for new Spectrum customers, but if you already have service you’ll see speeds going up in the first quarter of 2021.
It’s possible you might need a new modem to use the higher speeds, but that’ll be available at no extra charge.
Spectrum says it’ll be contacting you if you need that new modem.
SPECTRUM DOUBLES SPECTRUM INTERNET® STARTING SPEED
TO 200 MBPS IN CENTRAL MISSOURI AREA
COLUMBIA, Mo. (December 17, 2020) — Spectrum today announced it has doubled the starting download speed of Spectrum Internet from 100 to 200 Mbps in the Central Missouri area. The faster 200 Mbps speeds are available now to new Spectrum Internet customers, and the company will automatically increase speeds for current residential customers with Spectrum Internet packages in the Central Missouri area during the first quarter of 2021.
Nearly 75% of the company’s 41-state service area now features Spectrum Internet starting speeds of 200 Mbps. For Central Missouri customers who want even faster speeds, Spectrum Internet Ultra includes download speeds up to 400 Mbps, while Spectrum Internet Gig offers a gigabit connection to the customer’s home.
“Fast, reliable connectivity is more important than ever,” said Carl Leuschner, Senior Vice President, Internet & Voice Products at Charter Communications, Inc., which offers services under the Spectrum brand, “and we are delivering Spectrum Internet customers in Central Missouri even more speed for streaming, remote work, distance learning and staying in touch with family and friends — with no modem fees, data caps or contracts.”
Free service with in-home WiFi available for two months to eligible new customers
New customers may be eligible for Spectrum’s Remote Education Offer, which provides free Spectrum Internet and in-home WiFi for 60 days. To enroll, new customers with K-12th graders, college students and/or educators can call 1-844-310-1198. A free self-installation kit is provided to eligible customers.
A small percentage of current Spectrum Internet customers will need a new modem — available at no additional charge — to receive the faster speeds. Spectrum will contact customers who need a new modem with details on how to receive an upgraded device.
