Investigation Launched Into Laclede Jail Death

An investigation is underway by the Missouri State Highway Patrol after an inmate dies at the Laclede County Jail.

Sheriff David Millsap says 22-year-old William J Binns was found dead from an apparent suicide by hanging on Monday.

Binns was the only occupant in the cell and had been recently moved there, following a physical altercation with another inmate.

Millsap says Binns was in custody for an assault on a law enforcement officer and had been there since March.
