Investigation Underway Following Phelps County Drowning

A Phelps County man is dead after drowning in a lake over the weekend.

According to the Highway patrol, searchers found the body of 25-year-old Garg Sumit of Rolla, about 15-feet away from the shore in Little Prairie Lake.

The Lake is a Missouri Conservation Area located between St. James and Rolla, north of Interstate 44.

At this time, it’s unknown how he got into the water, but investigators say it’s evident that he went underwater and never resurfaced.
