Iowa Man Pleads Guilty To BWI In Death Of Local Racer Jason Russell

An Iowa man has pleaded guilty for boating while intoxicated in a boat crash back in June of 2019, that claimed the life of local race car driver Jason Russell.

According to court documents, Kelly Wise of Atlantic Iowa entered the plea without a plea agreement with the state.

The court has ordered Wise to spend 30 days in jail in “shock time” followed by 2 years of probation.

Jason Russell of Eugene was a weekly competitor at Lake Ozark speedway and he was riding in his 1990 Formula boat with his friend Bradley Siebeneck, when it was stuck along the side by Wise.

At the time, the Highway Patrol reported that Wise had a blood alcohol level of .184 when he arrived at the hospital.
