The Isla Del Sol project began as a condominium complex known as Atlantis Island several years ago. One of the biggest issues the complex had was access from the mainland to the island, which is currently accomplished by the use of a ferry. Over the past few years the complex has been working on some type of bridge to connect the land and eliminate the ferry. After several rejections, an agreement finally was reached and now a causeway is in the process of being built. Kevin Brown is the construction manager and he says they haven’t had any issues yet but did have to cover a utility line
Brown says they’ve done extra work on the project due to the Fish Mitigation Plan that they were required to put into the causeway from the Department of Conservation
Brown says they are planning to complete the project sometime between December and February of next year. Rockwood Bank took over the Isla Del Sol project through foreclosure in 2009 and has been working on it since.
