One segment of the Lake Area population continues to grow and it isn’t necessarily good news. It’s the number of inmates currently in our county jails. As of Tuesday, leading the way was Morgan County with around 160 in custody and another 50 or 60 farmed out to other county jails. Miller County reported 75 inmates which is about 65 percent of the 120 capacity. And the inmate total in Camden County stood at 93, about 85 percent of the 110 capacity. That number is also higher than normal compared to years past due, in part, to the county switching to a system of, mostly, cash-only bonds.
