A local organization is recognizing January as national stalking awareness month. Citizens against domestic violence have joined the campaign, “stalking: know it. Name it. Stop it,” to spread more awareness around the lake area. Angie Fiene, executive director of citizens against domestic violence says most people don’t even think of stalking as a threat, but it is real, and it comes in many different forms:
Fiene says, although there are not any statistics on cases in the lake area, the CADV did deal with some cases last year.
She says 6.6 million victims are affected by stalking nation wide each year. For more information please contact citizens against domestic violence at 573-346-9630 or visit their website at www.cadv-voc.org.
