There are fewer people looking for jobs in the Lake Area and Missouri as the state continues its economic recovery.

The jobs report for July shows an unemployment rate of 6.9-percent, which is down from 7.8 percent in June.

But that rate of 6.9 percent in July is double the number from July of 2019.

Missouri’s unemployment rate hit a record low of 3-percent in July of 2018 before going up slightly by the end of that year.

It’s now been 65 straight months Missouri has been equal or below the national unemployment rate, which was 10.2-percent in July.
