A Crocker man could learn his fate this week on a charge of Involuntary Manslaughter in Camden County. Joshua Shelton, who was 25 at the time, is accused of getting behind the wheel drunk on Labor Day, 2013, and failing to negotiate a curve on Route-A, just east of Seven Springs Road, sending the car off the road before hitting a tree and overturning. Pronounced dead at the scene was a passenger, 45-yr-old Melissa Crossland of Richland. Shelton’s trial is scheduled to begin today with Circuit Judge Kenneth Hayden presiding. If convicted of the Class-C Felony, Shelton could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
