A familiar face has been appointed by the governor’s office to fill a vacancy on the bench in the 26th Judicial Circuit. The Honorable Matt Hamner, who had been serving as an associate judge since being elected in 2014, was appointed this week to fill the unexpired term of, now former, Circuit Judge Stan Moore who retired last month.
Judge Hamner also says he had plenty of encouragement from within the courthouse to apply for the position.
In announcing the appointment, Governor Greitens calls Judge Hamner a proven leader both on and off the bench. Hamner earned his law degree with honors from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He plans to put his name on the November 2018 ballot to run for the next term as well.
