Judges, lawyers, and court clerks are taking time to recognize a class of people that may make up the most important part of our system of justice. April 28th through May 4th is Juror Appreciation Week. Camden County Prosecutor Heather Miller says it’s a chance to say “thank you” to the nearly 94,000 people across the state who reported for jury duty last year.
More than 50 courthouses across the state will take part with different observations ranging from posters and social media posts to just simply pausing to tell the jurors how important they are.
Missouri is one of only a few states that observes a statewide week of juror appreciation. It began in 2000 by order of the Supreme Court.
