An Iberia man who didn’t take too kindly to what he thought was obnoxious behavior directed toward his girlfriend is being held in the Miller County Jail on a class-A felony assault charge. Courthouse records indicate that Michael Fritchey and the unnamed victim got into the altercation Wednesday afternoon at Fritchey’s residence in Iberia before Fritchey ripped a cabinet door off a kitchen cabinet striking the victim in the head and face. The victim suffered multiple skull fractures, a deep cut to the side of his face requiring about 40 stitches and a partially severed ear that had to be re-attached . He was taken to St. Mary’s for treatment and an evaluation by a neurologist. Fritchey agreed to meet with a deputy the following day and was taken into custody. He is being held on a $200-thousand bond.
