The city of Lebanon is facing a lawsuit from the state attorney general for violations of the state’s sunshine laws.
Attorney General Chris Koster filed suit saying that Joseph Brauer, the chief of police in the city, sent an e-mail discussing a city board decision regarding an employee issue. Requests were made for the e-mail which were denied. Koster says that the city maintains that the e-mail is not public record.
The state attorney general also says there are questions about whether the city maintains proper police incident reports and whether arrest reports are released when requested.
Koster has filed the suit against the chief of police as well as Henry Luxem, the city administrator, and C.P. Craig, the city mayor.
