A home in the Sunny Slope area, west of Camdenton, is destroyed by fire. Mid-County Chief Scott Frandsen says the initial call to the location on Sugar Loaf Drive was received around 6:45 Sunday morning and, upon arrival, firefighters found the two-story structure with fire showing through the roof and out all sides of the structure. A defensive attack was initiated and water to fight the blaze had to be shuttled in because there are no hydrants in the area. On the scene, one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion. Personnel from Osage Beach and Sunrise Beach also responded to the scene while Lake Ozark provided coverage to Mid-County in the case of any additional calls. All totaled, more than 20-thousand gallons of water had to be shuttled in and firefighters were on the scene for the better part of four hours. A cause for the fire could not be determined due to the amount of damage.
