Lake Area Cities continue to sound off in opposition to proposed wireless legislation. Sunrise Beach City Planner Roger Corbin reported to the Board of Trustees at this week’s meeting on the status of proposed wireless legislation which will remove local oversight of cell tower replacement. City officials made it clear in three hearings that local governments support and welcome wireless expansion and upgrades but not at the expense of well established land use and zoning practices that protect the quality of life of their residents. All the jurisdictions at the lake are looking at their zoning ordinances to see what revisions there are pertaining to cell tow placement. Lake Ozark has already had a moratorium on cell towers and SunriseBeach and OsageBeach are expected to follow suit.
