Operation dry water turned up some wet boaters at the Lake of the Ozarks over the weekend.
The Missouri State Water Patrol conducted three special enforcement operations this weekend in conjunction with the nationwide BWI crackdown. Checkpoints were held at Table Rock Lake and Lake of the Ozarks, along with a saturation on the Niangua River in Dallas and Laclede counties. For all three operations there were 6 arrests for BWI, 16 citations for drug violations, 13 arrests for minor in possession, and 11 safety violations. Here at the lake a checkpoint was run from 10 to 1 on Saturday night at the 9 mile mark of the main channel. Ninety eight boats were checked Saturday night with five of the 6 overall BWI’s given locally. 6 citations were also given locally for safety violations.
