On Saturday, four veterans will be honored as part of the first Vietnam Veterans Day in Missouri, and two of those veterans are from the Lake of the Ozarks area. Governor Jay Nixon and Major General Stephen L. Danner, Adjutant General of Missouri, will honor the veterans in a ceremony on Saturday morning inside the Governor’s office at the state capitol. US Navy Veteran John Albright from Sunrise Beach and US Air Force Veteran Michael Puckett from Camdenton will be receiving medals, medallions and certificates. In 2012, Gov. Nixon signed into law a bill designating March 30 as Vietnam Veterans Day in Missouri. The day is designed to encourage Missourians to observe the day with appropriate events, activities and remembrances in honor of those who served during the Vietnam conflict.
