Lake area voters ARE going to the polls. Polling places are doing relatively brisk business, with no major problems reported. Morgan County Clerk Cathy Daniels says election workers at her county’s 10 polling places have been keeping busy:

The top of the ballot features the U.S. Senate race. For Democrats, there is just one choice – Senator Claire McCaskill. Republicans have several choices, including frontrunners John Brunner, Sarah Steelman and Todd Akin. Also on the ballot are primaries for governor, other statewide offices and state legislative seats.
4th District Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler faces perennial candidate Bernie Mowinski of Sunrise Beach in today’s Republican primary. The winner will run against Democrat Cass County prosecutor Teresa Hensley.
3rd District Republican Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer will advance to November’s general election without primary opposition.
Voters in the Lake Ozark Fire Protection District are getting another shot at approving a $5.3 million bond issue. There’s also a bond issue on the ballot in the Morgan County School District, and one for water and sewer improvements in Barnett. Laurie voters are deciding whether they want to impose a 2 percent local use tax. And Macks Creek voters are being asked whether they want to dissolve the city.
