Blame it on the rain. The director of the Missouri State Parks system says heavy rains are probably the cause of elevated bacteria levels at the two public beaches in Lake of the Ozarks State Park, and the reason why they won’t be open for the Memorial Day weekend. “In my opinion, the most likely cause is the recent heavy rains. While the sample results at the beach exceeded our standards at those locations, it does not necessarily have any relation to water quality on the rest of the lake,” state parks Director Bill Bryan said Friday. He added all other facilities at Lake of the Ozarks State Park will be open and available to the public this weekend.
