People who want to drive golf carts on public streets in Lake Ozark will have to pay a registration fee and receive a permit from the city’s police department. That’s just one of the rules they’ll have to follow under an ordinance approved by the city Tuesday night. Golf carts can be used on any city street with a posted speed limit of 30mph or less, with the exceptions of Bagnell Dam Boulevard, Welsh Road from W to Bluebird, Lighthouse Road from W to Mockingbird, and Lakeland Road. All operators must be licensed drivers and follow all the regular traffic laws. They are limited to 20mph, must have headlights, taillights, a fluorescent flag, or slow-moving vehicle triangle, and a rear-view mirror. The cart has to be inspected by the police and you’ll have to pay a $30 registration fee to receive the permit, which must be displayed on the cart.
