Lake Ozark’s board of aldermen will again be discussing a possible use of eminent domain when they meet this week. The board passed first reading of a proposal authorizing the use of eminent domain at their last meeting. The city is considering taking land to construct an access road to their lift station in Twin Oaks. It’s part of an overall system upgrade. Attorneys for the city contend that constructing a year-round access road is required to bring the city into compliance with state code. Currently the lift station is only accessible by way of more than 100 steps and a concrete ramp, both of which include steep angles. City Administrator Dave Van Dee still says the use of eminent domain is a last resort and they hope to resolve the issue amicably with the property owner. The Lake Ozark Board of Aldermen meeting is Tuesday night at 6pm.
