The Lake Ozark Fire Protection District will have a tax levy on the ballot in August. They’re asking voters for a 30-second tax increase to help fund their ambulance service.
Chief Mark Amsinger says it would be the first tax increase since they started the ambulance service in 18 years ago.
Lake Ozark has seen a 58% increase in the number of medical runs since they began the ambulance service in 2000. Last year more than 800 of the 1300 total calls they responded to were emergency medical calls.
