A prescription drug monitoring program is on the back burner for now in Lake Ozark. Tuesday night the board of aldermen tabled the second reading of the ordinance for the program at the request of the health department. Meanwhile, the Lake Ozark Police Department has recently hired two new officers, bringing them back up to full staff. Chief Gary Launderville says it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Having the Bagnell Dam Strip in their jurisdiction adds to the difficulty of policing in the city. The new hires will help to alleviate some of that.
The new hires brings the department up to 12 officers. Chief Launderville says he hopes to add a 13th officer in the coming weeks, thanks to funding the received from a federal COPS grant.
