Lake Race is announcing Christy Janssen as its new Executive Director for 2021 and into the future.
“Shes’ a long time lake area staple in the fundraising and charitable organizations. She has a heart of Gold and she wants to give back” says Tom Abbett, President of the Lake Race Board. “She’s also going to be our event coordinator for all things Lake Race going forward.”
This year’s event is set for June 3rd through the 5th and Abbett says the races are a lot like NASCAR on the water….
“It’s not just a straight line event, or drag boat racing or anything like that. These are 40 to 28 to 52 foot offshore boats, catamarans and v-bottoms.”
Abbett says he’s expecting to announce soon the relocation of Lake Race back to its original location in Lake Ozark after a two-year hiatus.
“There’s a few formalities to cross off the checklist first, one of those being the regatta permit, which is what we’ve applied for through the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s water division.”
Offshore at the Ozarks was the only circle track power-boat race held in the Lake Area in 2020 as most events were cancelled due to the pandemic, including Lake Race.
