Excitement continues to build for the 2018 installment of Lake Race. With a record number of boats expected to compete this year, the event continues to grow in popularity – not just with spectators, but with the racers as well. Local throttleman Mike Wright will be competing again this year. He says the race has really become a source of community pride.
Wright’s the defending world champion in class 5 with the 517-WIA Marine Insurance Boat. He says they haven’t made a final determination yet on which races they’ll compete in in 2018, but he knows where they’re starting.
Lake Race will take place on Saturday, June 2nd. We’ll have more feature stories on the event in the weeks leading up to the competition.
