Cardiac cath care is taken to the next level with a recent lofty recognition for the Lake Regional Health System. Willie Maxwell, Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab, says the hospital has been named by the state as a STEMI Level-2 center providing a big boost to local emergency care…
Maxwell also says part of the STEMI designation takes into consideration door-to-balloon time, or the time it takes from when a heart patient goes through the door to the first inflation. In the case of Lake Regional, the average time is 44 minutes compared to a national goal of 90 minutes. That puts Lake Regional in the top 10-percent nationwide.
