Some lofty recognition for Lake Regional Hospital…the Missouri Department of Health has renewed the health system’s designation, for at least the next five years, as a Level-3 Trauma Center. The trauma center designation is part of the statewide Time Critical Diagnosis System designed to get patients the best care possible in the shortest amount of time. In the case of Lake Regional, the system is also recognized as a stroke center and a STEMI heart attack center…the only hospital between Columbia and Springfield to be recognized as a state-designated center for all three types of emergencies. About 2,200 trauma patients, with the most common causes being
attributed to falls and motor vehicle accidents, are treated every year at Lake Regional.
