People interested in learning more about the effects of the opioid epidemic are invited to a public health discussion to be held at Lake Regional Hospital. The discussion will focus on risks of opioids and how to respond to an overdose. Lake Regional says their emergency department treated 104 people for opioid overdoses in 2018. The health talk will be lead by the hospital’s pharmacy manager, Tony Kauten. Other topics he’ll discuss will include who is at risk for an overdose, signs and symptoms of an opioid OD, and how to get naloxone at a pharmacy. It’s scheduled for March 14th at 10am. Registration is required and can be completed at www.lakeregional.com/opioid.
