The west side of the Lake is growing, and the Office Manager for the Lake West Ambulance District says emergency response needs to improve. The District Board approved the purchase of a new ambulance for 100-thousand dollars. And, the District is going to implement a software and hardware upgrade for dispatch, that will cost 50-thousand dollars for the installation and training. Currently, Camden County receives Lake West 911 emergency calls, then transfers them, which adds to response time. The new system will allow Lake West to receive the call, while Camden County listens in to determine if a fire unit is required.
