The state of Missouri has new abortion laws after the governor allows House Bill 213 and Senate Bill 65 to take effect. The bills ban late term abortions after twenty weeks unless the continuation of the pregnancy will create a serious risk of substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function of the pregnant mother. Governor Jay Nixon did not sign or veto the bills so they will take effect according to the state’s constitution. Pam Fitcher, President of Missouri Right to Life, says the decision by the governor saves lives and protects women from the risks of late term abortions.
