Voters in Laurie are being asked to give the city permission to issue bonds to cover a $1.6 million waterline expansion project. That would allow the city to install a larger waterline along O road from the Laurie Care Center to city limits, along with new hydrants and a pressure reduction system. Clerk Ron Clarke says it’s important to note that a “yes” vote is NOT a vote for added expenses to taxpayers.
Clarke says the upgrades are necessary not only for current water customers, but for future growth as well.
If approved, the project would likely be completed in 2020.
