Some state lawmakers are planning another attempt at reforming Missouri’s ethics laws. However, campaign contribution limits probably won’t consider. State allow currently allows lawmakers to accept unlimited gifts from lobbyists and take in unlimited campaign donations. It also allows legislative staff to work as paid political consultants during the session and lets lawmakers become professional lobbyists when they leave office. Reports indicate state republicans are on board for some level of ethics legislation while democrat strategists say a ballot measure seeking more radical ethics reform has been drafted in case lawmakers do nothing when the new session starts.
