Leeton Man Facing Charges Of Fleeing The Scene Following A Pursuit In Laurie

A Leeton man’s facing charges after Camden County Sheriff’s Deputies say he refused to pull over for Laurie police, but then crashed his car into a building.

Captain Chris Twitchel tells KRMS News 30-year-old Joseph Rains was found on foot after he crashed his car.

Laurie police stopped chasing Rains, and deputies from Camden County picked up the pursuit.

 

***PRESS RELEASE***

On 11/18/20 deputies responded to assist a Laurie Police officer during a pursuit. During their response, deputies learned the Laurie Officer discontinued the pursuit on Nuttall Oak Drive. Upon arrival, deputies learned the subject wrecked his vehicle into a building and fled on foot. Shortly after, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Joseph A Rains Age 30 of Leeton Mo was charged with Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Felony Property Damage and Felony Resisting Arrest by Fleeing and issued a surety bond of $20,0000.00. He was also issued several traffic summons through Laurie Police Department. He remains at the Camden County Sheriffs Office pending court.

*The Camden County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that these charges are merely an accusation and these individuals remain innocent until proven guilty.
