The arraignment of a former Lake Area sheriff’s deputy accused of sex-related crimes involving juvenile females does NOT go on as planned. Leonard Wilson and his attorney, Shane Farrow, were no-shows on Monday in Laclede County where the case is being heard on a change of venue from Camden County. Special prosecutor Dustin Dunklee, out of Morgan County, announced during the proceeding that Wilson was unavailable to be writted on time to compel his appearance from the federal holding facility where he is currently being housed in Jefferson City. Dunklee also announced that a written waiver of arraignment and preliminary hearing will be filed within the next week effectively sending the case onto the circuit level. Wilson’s future appearances on the Camden County charges will hinge largely on how the local cases can be balanced with proceedings on the Federal level. In addition to several charges filed in Camden County, Wilson is being held without bond on a Federal indictment for possession of child pornography.
